Ask the Experts: Forever Clear BBL

You’ve been struggling with stubborn acne for the longest time. You’ve tried all sorts of topical treatments and procedures, but nothing seems to work. Then comes Forever Clear BBL claiming to banish acne once and for all.

Does it really work? The experts at APT Medical Aesthetics answer this question and weigh in on the technology that makes this laser treatment different from other procedures.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) vs. BroadBand Light (BBL)

Light comes in a broad spectrum of wavelengths. X-rays and UV rays are light wavelengths most people are familiar with. However, they can change your DNA and cause severe damage.

The “right” wavelength can actually be beneficial to your skin. When the skin is heated by the appropriate wavelength, the body reacts by getting rid of unwanted skin cells.

Intense Pulsed Light or IPL uses a single-focused beam of light to remove pigmented, damaged skin cells or hair follicles. BroadBand Light Therapy or BBL uses multiple light wavelengths to target a broader range of skin concerns, including rosacea, signs of aging, and more.

BBL vs. Forever Clear BBL

So what makes Forever Clear BBL different from BBL?

While BBL addresses a broader range of skin concerns, Forever Clear BBL targets only one: acne. It uses specific pulses of light—blue, yellow, and infrared—to eliminate acne at the root cause.

Blue light is used to kill bacteria located deep in the pores, yellow light is used to treat inflammation and redness, and infrared light is used to speed up the body’s natural healing process.

Experts recommend three to four sessions every quarter for Forever Clear BBL therapy, while sessions must be around a month apart for regular BBL treatments. Forever BBL is also four times faster than traditional treatments with minimal downtime (if any) and without the need for anesthetic or medications.

Does It Work? Studies Say It Does

Studies show that Forever Clear BBL treatments work. It can rejuvenate the expression of genes associated with the aging process.

Here’s the science behind it:

Our DNA—which is like a manual that instructs each cell how it should function— lies at the centre of our cell (the nucleus). But with aging, our DNA gets damaged, making the cells perform less efficiently.

Studies reveal that Forever Young BBL treatments can penetrate deep into the skin to stimulate damaged cells back to a younger state. This innovative technology can rejuvenate the genetic code (remember the instruction manual we mentioned earlier?) in your DNA. And as a result, your DNA gets reset, leaving you with clearer, healthier-looking skin.

Is It Painful?

Other laser treatments require topical anesthesia to reduce pain. But with Forever Clear BBL, that’s not necessary.

What you will feel is a bit of warmth as the device is run over the targeted area. There might be a slight discomfort on more sensitive parts such as the upper lip, but otherwise, the procedure is painless.

You can apply makeup and return to your daily activities immediately after the procedure. The treated area may appear a little flushed, but it usually disappears after a few hours.

Who Is A Good Candidate for Forever Clear BBL?

Forever Clear BBL can be used on anyone with active acne, regardless of age or gender. It’s a safe and effective treatment for removing:

  • Recurring acne;
  • Acne breakouts;
  • Cystic acne;
  • Facial redness caused by acne;
  • Hormonal acne;
  • Acne scars;
  • Pustules, pimples, and blackheads;
  • Adolescent acne; and
  • Adult acne.

This treatment can be used on the face, neck, chest, back, and other parts of the body.

What Treatments Can You Pair With Forever Clear BBL?

To maintain the results of Forever Clear BBL treatments, we recommend using medical-grade skincare products instead of drugstore brands for your daily skincare routine.

The HydraFacial is another treatment you can pair with Forever Clear BBL. It’s effective in deep-cleaning debris out of the pores to keep your skin fresh and hydrated.
