IPL is a versatile treatment that effectively addresses multiple skin concerns in just a few sessions. At APT Medical Aesthetics, we commonly recommend IPL for the following.
IPL Laser Is Ideal For Treating
Sun damage and age spots
Freckles and hyperpigmentation
Redness and rosacea
Broken capillaries and facial veins
Uneven skin tone and texture
Dull or blotchy complexion
Fine lines (via collagen stimulation)
Because IPL targets multiple layers of the skin, it can improve both surface-level discolouration and deeper structural issues, making it an excellent choice for full-spectrum skin rejuvenation.
A Real Patient Story – Fading Years of Sun Damage
One of our patients came to us frustrated with dark spots across her cheeks and chest after years of tanning in her twenties. No matter how much skincare she used, the pigmentation remained stubborn and made her feel self-conscious without makeup. We recommended a series of IPL treatments focused on her face and décolletage. By the third session, her sunspots had visibly faded, and her skin tone looked significantly more even. Best of all, her confidence returned—she no longer felt the need to “cover up” and could finally enjoy her natural skin.
You struggle with uneven skin tone, redness, or age spots
You are bothered by broken capillaries or rosacea
You want to improve texture and skin brightness
You are not currently tanning or using tanning products
You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
At APT Medical Aesthetics, we always conduct a thorough consultation and skin analysis to determine if IPL is the safest and most effective treatment for your skin.
What to Expect – IPL Treatment, Results, and Downtime
Treatment ExperienceBefore your IPL session, we’ll cleanse your skin and apply a cool gel to protect the surface. You’ll wear protective eyewear while our trained provider uses the IPL handpiece to deliver pulses of light to your skin. Some describe the sensation as a quick “rubber band snap,” but most patients find it very tolerable.Post-Treatment and Downtime
Mild redness or warmth is normal for a few hours to 1–2 days
Dark spots may temporarily darken and flake off over a week
You can return to most activities the same day—just avoid heat, sun exposure, and harsh skincare for a few days
Results begin to appear in 7–10 days, with continued improvement over several weeks
Is IPL the same as a laser treatment? Not quite. IPL uses broad-spectrum light, while lasers use a single, focused wavelength. This makes IPL more versatile for treating multiple skin issues simultaneously. How long do the results last? With proper skincare and sun protection, IPL results can last 6 months or longer. Periodic maintenance treatments can help extend your glow. Can I get IPL during the summer? We recommend avoiding IPL if you’ve had recent sun exposure or plan to be in direct sunlight. Fall, winter, and early spring are ideal seasons for treatment.
What’s the Right Laser Treatment for You?
Have you been wondering if IPL is the right treatment for your skin goals? Or are you unsure whether to choose IPL, Clear + Brilliant®, or another option entirely? You’re not alone—and we’re here to help guide you.At APT Medical Aesthetics, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all skincare. We take the time to assess your skin, understand your goals, and recommend the best treatments for your unique concerns, whether that’s IPL or a completely different modality.
