How It Works

Each treatment takes about 20-30 minutes. Your technician applies hyaluronic acid serum to your skin. Then they glide the ACS-Pen over your skin in a precise pattern. After treatment, your technician applies post-treatment products. They also give you aftercare instructions.

• Do not use makeup or products on the treated area for the first 12 hours. Wait up to 72 hours before your regular routine. Your aesthetician will recommend products for aftercare.
• Stay indoors for the next 48 hours as much as possible. Your treated skin is photosensitive. UV light can be damaging.
• Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen at all times. Reapply every 2 hours.
• Do not use tanning beds or spray tans. They expose your skin to harmful UV light.
• Refrain from exercise or strenuous activity for 72 hours. Sweating can irritate raw skin. Gyms can have bacteria that infect your skin.
• Postpone sauna or swimming. These activities risk irritation, inflammation, or infection.
• Avoid alcohol-based toners for up to 14 days after treatment.
• Avoid powered facial cleansers for 10 days or as advised.

Potential Complications

Microneedling is generally a safe treatment. However, complications are possible with an inexperienced technician or incompetent clinic.

After the procedure, redness is normal. It usually fades in two to three days. Watch for bruising, bleeding, or excessive pain. These may be signs of infection. Contact your medical aesthetician immediately.
